Here is another thing I used to do regularly but no longer do.
I used to go to the races, and the trots regularly.
Probably because at the time, my boss' best friend was a bookmaker and somehow my husband and I went almost every week.
It was fun at the time, and we did bet and that was also fun.
I have seen greyhound racing once when I was in the country and went to the restaurant in the greyhound racing track.
I didnt really watch as do not like it for some reason.
I am currently probably going to adopt an ex racer greyhound after the death of my dog last week.
My family has been heavily involved in harness racing in the past, and I have been to many, many race meetings. I was strapper and stablehand for my trainer father as a teenager, and my older brother used to drive the horses right up until he died. My other brother is an owner of harness racing horses and one thoroughbred racer.
I hve never been ionyterested in either form of racing, and so do not go.I also am not a gambler of any sort,so,that answers that one as well!! No!! I am not a boring person!!! I just have other things which interest me!!
I've never been to the track but sometimes at the pub (back in the days when going to a pub was what you did on Friday) we would put $10 in the middle of the table and put 50c bets on roughies. We won enough money for dinner and movies on the way home two or three times. It was lots of fun.
I went to the greyhound racing once, with my now husband, so that would have been about 50 years ago! I've been to the horse racing about twice 'with the girls' many years ago. Other than those times, I only bet $6-8 at the TAB on Melbourne Cup day, on the horses names I like the best, & the colours the jockeys wear, then watch the races at home, on the tv. Needles to say, I rarely get my money back!
