years ago,it is like being on holiday all year through!! I feel very blessed to have the reef at my doorstep as well as the Rainforests!!! People pay small fortunes to spend time in the place I call home! It is so relaxed and beautiful here for almost the entire year Kids can do outdoor holiday activities like rollerblading, skating, cycling, swimming, even abseiling and hiking, all year through, and so can their parents. So why spend money to do these past times when they are at the doorstep?!
We try to organize family holidays regularly. I loved family holidays growing up and so want to emulate this for my children. It doesn't always have to be expensive either....our recent camping trip cost just $60 for our pitch. Living in WA it does feel like a holiday year round but to get away from the day to day chores and routines, a holiday is a great respite for us.
We go to Melbourne 4/5 times a year, for a week at a time, & then there's the cruises! I'm trying to have at least 1 of those a year as well. In 2014 we went to India for a family wedding, so no cruise. This year, 2017, we went to a family wedding in Bali, so no cruise. For 2018, we have a Melbourne return 16 night NZ cruise (our 3rd) lined up for Jan, & a Sydney return south pacific cruise (our 3rd, but to different islands) for February. These haven't been booked as yet.
PS:We didn't bother doing the Sydney return to NZ, but we did do the 2 week South Pacific cruise, Melbourne return Feb/March '18. (I got those 2 back to front!) Then had 2 weeks in Melbourne with our youngest daughter, & saw our granddaughters as well, (who belong to the eldest daughter,) before returning to Sydney. I'm hoping we'll return to Melbourne again soon, & also hoping to return to Bali later this year. It will be a game of 'wait & see'!
