Elf on a Shelf (Trademark) is a tradition whereby a toy elf is placed around the home throughout the Christmas period and posed in Christmassy situations. The elf is supposedly in the employ of Santa, checking the naughty or nice status of the children.

Never heard of it.

To be quite honest after reading about it... I would not embrace this tradition...I find it a tad Creepy, and I got a cold shiver down my back as I read ....
This is the first I have heard of the tradition. It must be an Austrailian thing. Sounds fun for kids.
No, they do it in America too. I don't know about the UK. I think it's a relatively recent thing.
A firnd of mine does this for her children. every night she sets up another scernario and the children love getting up in the morning to see what the elves have done. One morning they found the elves had made snow angels (in flour). On another they were hiding in the Christma tree. There are so many inventive things that can be done.
Never heard of it.

No, I find the spying aspect a bit creepy. I suppose if you didn't do that part of it it could be a bit of whimsical fun but I'd rather come up with our own family traditions.
I have never heard of it, so l say no.
I have never heard of this before, and NO, I do not do it!

Never heard of it!
But wouldn't partake, as I find elves just a tad creepy, & scary!
I have never heard of it before. But even if I had heard of it, we wouldn't have done it. We try not to encourage a consumer culture at home and I think this might be doing that.
