In the Christian faith, Easter has come to mean the celebration of the resurrection of Christ three days after His crucifixion.
It is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important day of the church year because of the significance of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the events upon which Christianity is based.
It is a very sacred day for myself, and other Christians. We only feel joy on Eater Sunday. The Friday is a day for reflection, and in my house we keep everything very quite until mid day, we attend church on the Friday and Sunday.
It's also linked to the Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead. Excuse my mocking tone, it just seems to me that people have abandoned the actual reasons we celebrate "hol(y)days" such as Easter and Christmas.
