I'm not sure if I believe in destiny, but certainly believe that there is a pattern to life. This is a new concept for me. Up until last year, I had no real belief system, I was skeptical that there was a pattern, or mother nature, or God. Then, a year and a half ago, I almost died. I was about to take my first vacation in three years. I planned on editing my first book, but I got sick the day before my vacation and couldn't seem to get better. I had to take extra time off, and after a month of being sick, I landed in the hospital. I had a lung infection so bad I could hardly breathe. The infection had moved into my liver and kidneys, poisoning my blood. I was completely bedridden, and my muscles atrophied. I can remember laying there in the hospital and I examined every event that led me to that moment. There was a pattern so clear that I can't deny that it was there. So do I believe in destiny? Maybe. Do I believe that there is some kind of pattern out there. Most definitely.
I believe that everything that is going to happen has already been pre-determined by a cosmic roll of the dice, but I do not believe that this is destiny so to speak. It is more just random convergences that if we had enough data to study, we could predict.
I believe that your life has been set out for you, and every time you swagger off this destination you get hit by an ugly stick called life. You may as well enjoy the journey and try to stay as close to that path as possible - like it or not!
No, I don't. I believe that where we end up in life is a combination of our own choices and blind chance. We can't choose where we are born or who our parents are and we can't opt out of random disasters that happen in life like disease, floods or fires. We can only try and make the best of what we are given, and not everybody has the ability to change their life without help.
I find the idea of some entity playing with us as if we were pawns more than a little creepy.
We do have partial control over our own destiny through our thoughts, actions and priorities in life. What we put out we get back. Good old fashioned hard work is also key. Part of our life is controlled by fate. The universe has bigger and better plans for us than we even realise.
