I hate the way talk about food is so often wrapped up with guilt, especially for women. I pretty much just eat what I want, within certain limits (I'm lactose intolerant and vegetarian, but I don't really want to eat dairy or meat anyway). I think a reasonable balance sort of naturally follows for me, since I wouldn't want to eat junk food all the time, or salad all the time.
I do not always eat healthy although I am very conscious of this!
I have a "sweet tooth" and try as I do, I often just "pig out" on sweet things.
I have stopped eating dessert followed by chips which I used to do every night, and have replaced it with fruit. However sometimes, I still feel I JUST HAVE TO HAVE something more, which is unhealthy.
So I must say, I eat healthy often but still often eat what I feel like e.g. last night friends invited me over for fish and chips -I limit myself to this delicious bought food every 6 weeks but had had it 4 weeks ago!
A bigger part of my eating is now healthy.
I have not touched chocolate in nearly 2 months!
Now I look at it and think 'why'.
Why did I turn to that quick fix!....well truth be told, we just do.
I love eating good food now, meaning putting a lot of effort into taste.
The weight is coming off, but slowly...and I feel very pleased not to need to go back to the sweet's.
I do have the odd hot chocolate drink 49 cals, and 1-2 biscuits....But that is so my mind will not go crazy, as all treats are gone.
It really comes down to 'when' has one had enough of the bad stuff, and is willing to now go the other way.
For me it has come quite late in life....but! it came, so I make the best of it now.
My pic is what I am eating now...more mediterranean food....The keep is to also use a very very good oil and plenty of herbs. :)
I do eat what I like, but it seems that almost all of this is what is deemed to be 'healthy' anyway!!! I adore fruit and vegies, and I really do enjoy freshly cooked fish which I am lucky enough to have access to without breaking the bank!! I do enjoy chocolate ,and feel no guilt whatsoever when I enjoy such lovely items. It is a matter of moderation in all things!! I have many allergies so I have had to avoid a great many foods over the years. It does not bother me at all unless invited to eat at a restaurant where I cannot be certain of the ingredients used! I always tend to think back to hearing my parents say that 'a little of what you fancy does you good!' Very wise words in my situation!!!
I eat what my husband cooks but he puts far too much on the plate so I prefer to cook when I can as he tends to stick to the same meals all the time. I've lost count of the food that has to be thrown out each week because he doesn't budge from his set veggies. I bake cakes for my families but don't eat them that much myself but I do indulge in the odd apple turnover with fresh cream or grilled chicken wrap from Maccas and maybe some hot chips now and then.
We eat mostly healthy meals. Takeaway about 4 times a year, if we come home late from Melbourne, I'm usually to tired to cook, as it takes 6-7hrs, door to door. We only eat ice-cream at home if it's some family members birthday! I don't make enough salads though. We eat vegetarian once a week. We have fish twice a week. We share a Lindt square most nights. Don't have dessert apart from piece the chocolate & ice-cream.
