Open. I am not keen on closed doors at all. Probably the "flight in the night" due to a fire thing. (exits unimpeded)
by Rice
Good point. And you have said previously that you've had a house fire, is that right Rice or have I mixed you up with somebody else?
by Vee
Yes, we had a bit of a fire. Not recommended. LOL
by Rice
A bit, eh? I think I remember you saying everyone was ok.
by Vee
They still carted me off to hospital for the smoke inhalation . . .you know, just in case. After a few hours they let me go. I looked like a chimney sweep. I wish somebody had taken a photo! LOL
by Rice
Of course. Better safe than sorry, I say. Chimney sweep lol!

My son is going through a strange stage at the moment. He has never had a problem with going to sleep with the door closed, now he is afraid of closing the door...to be fair, I once lost it with him and closed him in his room so we could both cool down...I think that's what has brought this on. Now, he will go to sleep with door shut some nights (we open the door once we go to sleep, just in case) and other nights with the door open.

Always open, with all my sons.

(except when Babies...and we wanted to keep any extra noise out of their rooms).
We always sleep with the doors to the bedrooms shut, unless there is no one else in the house, and we have them open. When the children were little, I was always petrified that they would wake up if I walked down the hallway. I would have been in there if I heard so much as a hiccup from their rooms. So, for my own sanity, we close the doors, so I don't here them, and they don't hear me. That way neither of us worry about each other, we all have our privacy, and we all get a good nights sleep. Nowadays I still worry that my daughter can hear the TV coming from the lounge room whilst she is in bed. She watches things on her computer and listens to music but we never hear it, because the door is shut. We would be able to hear everything otherwise.

Sorry about double reply

Always open, visitors or not. Think it is the safest way.
Open
open
Open, of course, for many reasons'.
Main one, so could HEAR any 'odd' noises' emanating from baby/toddler/child, as our bedroom right next door.
Oh my gosh, donjo. When I read 'odd' noises, I thought 'teenagers' straight away. Don't get ahead of yourself, Vee!

Always with the doors open even though years later 2 of the girls swore they saw a ghost in our bathroom
Spooky.

Forget the kids...I sleep with the door open and a light on in the lounge. I was broken into 3 times last year and twice they set off the alarm in the night.
My children slept with closed doors.
tiny5, I'm sorry. That must've been an ordeal (x3)! Were you alright?
by Vee
Yes thanks Vee. Just leaves me feeling vulnerable. At least the alarm went off.
Yes, lucky the alarm went off. I could just imagine the dread you felt, tiny5. It's one of my fears to have somebody break in while I'm at home. My midwife and my elderly neighbour had this happen to them as well. Unfortunately, the thieves took jewellery that was very important to my neighbour.

Sorry again and thank you for sharing.
by Vee
Open, of course!

My kids mostly sleep with their bedroom doors open. However, I'd close it if there is a night light on.
