Yes I did - I had some very large prawns which we did on the BBQ along with steak, and I also had an entre of prawns with a sauce, compliments of Woolworths, as Woolworths delivered the wrong ones, so I got a credit for these.
Along with some smoked salmon....almost enough for me without anything else!
Did I ever have prawns. We've been having seafood for over 45 years for Christmas. Let's see. I had fresh tiger prawns, home made prawn cutlets and home made satay prawns on skewers with the same leftovers the next day. We also do our own calamari, balmain bugs and lobster tails with my home made dressings and sauces. The only difference in price this year was the king Alaskan crab claws which were $10.00/kilo dearer than they were last year. Didn't have oysters this year because both fridges were full and absolutely no room left.
rent we lucky in Australia at Christmas time. All the very best seafood one can imagine is available. And just the weather to eat seafood. But we can also do the whole range of traditional food as well Superb poultry, beef, lamb, pork. And when it comes to the Christmas cake and plum pudding, the best produce in the world to make such desserts. Also the pavlova and tropical fruits so readily available her and the beautiful cheeses and dairy products. God's own country.
Hi Fran. Yes, we are extremely lucky to have such wonderful foods. I recall when staying with my husband's family I was asked what coukd they cook me that I couldn't have in Australia. The answer was nothing, of course so instead I made them one of our Sunday baked dinners of roast lamb with all the veggies. They wouldn't normally eat lamb because it was imported from New Zealand and they'd never eaten baked carrots or broccoli with cheese sauce so it was an experience for them and when they came to Australia for a holiday, they couldn't get over the seafood or Sizzlers which they loved going to at that time.
We were staying in Melbourne for a week with our youngest daughter & partner over Christmas, '16, & they bought a kilo of prawns to take to his parents place on Christmas Day. Lunch was very late, so we just had the prawns for a late dinner, with some fresh lemon juice. (As in the lemons were from the garden!)The prawns didn't seem to have much taste though. We rang our daughter on NYE evening, & she & her partner had just been out buying some prawns!
