I certainly do not live on my laptop, but I would be lost without it. I am now fairly housebound due to a painful illness,so internet access has opened the whole world up for me. What I really love about the way I can contact my very real and dear friends,is that it is almost INSTANT!! In the days when I would send letters through the postal system to my friends far away,I would wait a long time in many cases for a response, while nowadays,I can actually 'chat' via email (or otherwise if I felt inclined to!)and send notes to and fro very quickly!! I love this REAL TIME aspect of being in touch with my loved ones. I also have many very special friends, who are no less so,for never having actually met them!!Being able to be in touch so quickly with friends both here and outside Australia is a real treat for me! Yes! My computer is very special to me for the communication I now have with my friends and also family of course!!
I do have three email penfriends so it is true to that extent. However, I do have their home addresses so even without a computer, I could contact them. The rest of the people in my contact list are friends or family whom I could telephone instead of email. So, whilst email is convenient, it is not essential for my communication with those I know or care for. I think it would be a bit sad if communication with friends or loved ones relied on a computer
Can you relate to this picture? Hmmmm . . YES! 110% Yes. Yesterday I got my PC back, fixed, after three weeks without it. It was terrible. I missed my emails, my chats, my e-friends . . . I was quite bereft. I was poaching time on HIS computer and eventually snitched his laptop as I love to be able to interact with my rellies and friends in real time. Some of the time I was in NZ and I don't know if that made it better or worse. I spend a lot of time on my PC and I really missed it. Now I can put this laptop away and put my darling all back together again. After I have a cup of tea. . . *waves to all the lovely friends here*
