It was one of those days, running around, phone call after phone call and everybody wanted a piece of me. I was exhausted and feeling low. On my way home, I stopped to buy groceries. With the last bit of energy I went to prepare dinner and opened up the egg carton. And there they were, little smiling eggs. I couldn't help but giggle. Such a small thing made so much difference.
Getting outside. I like to go for a hike, preferably in the middle of nowhere. The fewer people I see the better my mood becomes. There is something about getting back to nature, the smell of the forest, the sound of leaves rustling in the breeze and a clear, empty path. It puts a smile on my face no matter how bad my day has been.
I agree with dgrwriting...nature is the best healer. An hour or two down by the river or at the beach never fails to work wonders when I'm feeling down. Another idea is to do some kind of exercise that you enjoy. Perhaps try doing different types and see what you like best. Zumba, Bollywood dancing, belly-dancing and ice-skating are all loads of fun, whether you go alone or with some friends. For a deeper, more wholistic lift, yoga or tai chi, which work with bodies energy system may also be helpful.
