I am not scared enough to stop me getting any needles, however do not look forward to that second when the actual needles goes into me.
Though each time this happens, I vow how little it hurts!

It all depends on the person taking the blood or whatever you are having done.

I have "good" veins so they do not have a problem with me.

I guess when you have had three kids, and a few op's...it's time to grow up...lol.
I just tell myself they are there to help me(the medical staff or doctor).
I look away, and all is fine.
I have had some that are young and don't know what they bare doing.
If too bad, in a firm voice I say, Stop! go get some help....I'm not a ''pin cushion''!!!
As for needles at the dentist...well they are a pain, but one just has to suck-it-up....That's life....No needle....No help....Simple.

Best Advice:''Just tell yourself the people are trying to help you''...that makes it way better.Once you see them as wanting to help, then that needle becomes a little less scary.Works every time with me.
oops 'bare should be are''....sorry :(

Not at all! As a child, I endured 2 injections each week for 10 years! Then when ever I had to undergo surgery,I would need many more needles, and even now I have blood tests regularly. They do not bother me at all.
I hate needles, but like Finy, that doesn't stop me from getting them. I try to stay calm and look away.

Yes, I hate them. If I have to have one I just don't look.
I don't think anyone likes them. But I'm not scared of them.

Yes I am, even the image used here gives me the shivers

No can take pain after giving birth....doesn't bother me

Yes - I don't like them at all.

Although one nurse gave me a jab one year that I didn't feel at all. And I keep trying to get the same one again!
I am not scared, but I don't like needles. When I give blood, I ask the lady to cover the place where the needle sticks in with a cloth or tissue or something. I don't like the site for some reason. However, it doesn't stop me from giving blood or getting vaccinations (e.g. flu vaccination, etc.)
I used to be the same! I have become used to it. They always covered the site once.

I used to be after getting a really painful penicillin injection as a youngster. But having to have jabs in front of my children as we had family vaccination visits to the family doctor and having to put on a brave face, stopped all that. We also had a doctor that was a pediatrition and she always always changed the needles for the little childrens ones so was very kind. Its a horrible sensation but I'm less scared now after supporting very brave little ones.
I used to be terrified of needles. I still don't like them but I got used to it while I was in hospital a couple of years ago. For three weeks I had an IV stuck in my arm so the nurses could take blood twice a day. The IV needed to be moved every three or four days to ensure my veins didn't collapse. I was also getting a shot of heparin in the stomach twice a day. Even after all of that, I still don't like to look when I'm getting a needle, but I find it easier to get them.
Yes, so i JUST CLOSE MY EYES TILL ITS DONE

As a premmie baby, I was a 'pincushion'.
Hate having to have injections to this day! Can't watch! Gotta have flu vaccine next month, so as usual, will be in the thigh!

For work, had to have Cholera every six months, Typhoid frequently & Smallpox each decade, injections/vaccinations.

Added to this was Quinine Tablets, as constantly travelling to TPNG & NG.

Iíve always hated them, but I put up with it, with my eyes closed when i donate blood at the Blood Bank. The poor person giving me the needle, think their hurting me. I don't freak out about the flu injections though!
No after heart surgery I had so many injections, that I recall saying to one nurse "please don't wake me up to give me an injection, just do it and let me sleep".
Those first few days I was struggling to get a good night's sleep (hence the request to not wake me up".

farley
No, not at all, I remember telling a nurse not to wake me if needing to give me an injection, I just wanted to sleep after having Open Heart surgery.

When I was in hospital for a few weeks getting several needles a day I came to dread them. Now I am recovered I am back to donating blood regularly, so just wriggle my toes when the needle is going in. It doesn't bother me too much. I have done 214 donations so I am used to it.
They don't bother me at all, not even the "horse" needles I used to have to check my platelet count years ago. Once when I was having an injection in my arm I was watching what the doctor was doing. It unnerved him so much he couldn't do it and had to get a nurse to give the injection.

Yes the picture does not make me flinch.
I have had so many needles/injections over the years that the thought of needles and injections is not something I fear.

I am scared of needles, but now I just don't look, I was petrified of them in my younger days, but now it's a way of life if you need them, I had to give my-self needles when I was pregnant, as I had gestational diabetes.
