I have been happy right from the start to do this and have been buying online for many, many years now!
I have one card with American Express and they are so much better to deal with than a bank -If every merchant accepted their card, I would not even bother with a bank credit card.
I have not had a problem online in all the years I have been buying goods and services on the Internet.
I used to be quite concerned about this,so I got myself a Visa DEBIT card which required me to actually put funds from my other account into it so it could be used the same way as a credit card. This solved all my problems when buying online!! I do not buy masses of items online, but it is very good to know that I am able to pay for anything which may happen to tempt me!!
Ironically I don't trust online banking, however, I do purchase items via GROUPON online. I used to be very wary, however, have been buying things via GROUPON over the last few years. I am a shiftworker and mostly don't have to energy to wander around the shopping centres looking for the best products to buy. I have bought some excellent gifts via GROUPON and they have always been delivered in a timely manner.
Never will I use a cc but will use a debit cards so that I can control the amounts exposed to risk.
I will also never again buy charity raffle tickets after discovering they had been using auto debit on me for years.
How they tricked me was they would ring me and get agreement to debit 1 small amount and auto debit more tickets. When I did a quick glance on the statement I would see the charity and not check volume or dates, Lazy I know but who expects to be scammed by a charity.
It was not until I cancelled the card that the scam turned up. When I protested the person described me as an old person with a bad memory. I decided to never again allow any transactions on my cc over the phone or net.
1 year later the same charity contacted me to say that they needed my cc number as the direct debit was not working. They simply where trying the same scam again but this time I knew 100 percent it was an attempt to pull the same confidence trick. Dont trust anyone.
Yes. I am happy to do so. I was a bit nervous when I first started buying online. I find if you buy from a reputable site, there is greater security, and less likely for problems to occur. Still, if people want to hack into any site, they will do so, despite all the security .
