The Safe Schools program is encouraging school-aged children to use whichever toilet facilities they feel they would like to use at school. Moreover, some toilets are being rebadged as gender-neutral.

In response, many are voicing concerns about the safety of children using such facilities.

At the risk of sounding like a bigot, I'm going to come right out and say it, this is an ill-informed disaster-waiting-to-happen. If this http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-06-03/calls-for-action-to-halt-child-on-child-sex-abuse/5497196 is happening now, I cringe to think what will happen with the introduction of gender-neutral toilets. With boys being accused of forcing other boys to perform oral sex on them in school toilets, how could we even think that having boys and girls using the same toilets is a good idea?! The government needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

It is to me a accident waiting to happen, and not just once.....Even if I think back to when I was at school, and how kids would get up to mischief, as no one was watching.
No we are going to allow a free for all!

Supervision is a must with children, but now we are going to allow them free to choose.

One word disastrous!
What is going on? https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/massachusetts-house-votes-to-allow-sex-offenders-in-womens-restrooms-and-sh?utm_source=LifePetitions+petition+signers&utm_campaign=979039df93-Update_Pro_Family_6_76_7_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c5c75ce940-979039df93-398477993

I don't have children, but I think it is about time to have gender neutral toilets. No one is forcing kids to use them; there is the traditional option still available, but for those who are transgender, they are definitely needed.
Bryony, in many schools, the traditional option is being replaced by the gender-neutral one. So those who wish to use the 'traditional option' have no choice in the matter.

I didn't realise that. If they had all three then I think it would be excellent, but getting rid of boys and girls loos completely isn't a good idea.
Toilets at home are gender neutral. How come when school comes on the scene everybody gets separate toilets?

I would say that children are safer at home than they are at school. I have heard many first-hand stories and stories reported on in the news about sexual harassment in schools. This is going to put children, girls in particular, at an increased risk of assault.

I was also thinking of the privacy aspect too . . . . That time of the month and so on.
by Rice
Gosh, yes. I didn't even think about that.

This world has gone insane. Like jonaj says, its an accident waiting to happen. Back when i was in year 1 i barly knew how to tie my shoe laces and now days kids are sexualy active at that age. This is going to blow up big time. Im just say would you want to share a toilet with a sexual deviant of the opposite sex?
I SO glad my kids are finished with school and don't have to share the toilet facilities with anyone who CLAIMS they were born "in the wrong body". The record shows there is a lot of sick people out there in the world just looking for way to get to your children. The government just gave them easy access. God Bless you all
I don't think that it is a good idea at all. It opens up the possibility of abuse, sexual assault and humiliation for the children who use these toilets. I would forbid my children from using these kinds of toilets. Privacy is another major concern if toilets are used by both sexes. I believe that these toilets should only be used by transgender children, and all other children should use the traditional toilets.
The US with their usual rubbish. Is this actually happening? https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/massachusetts-house-votes-to-allow-sex-offenders-in-womens-restrooms-and-sh?utm_source=LifePetitions+petition+signers&utm_campaign=979039df93-Update_Pro_Family_6_76_7_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c5c75ce940-979039df93-398477993

Absolutely not! I don't mind the family toilet option - so parents of the opposite gender can take their child to change etc in the safety of their guardianship - why can't that also satisfy the transgender/neutral lobbyists? Why does one philosophy have to be imposed on another under the guise of political correctness? Call me a bigot - I don't care - but I will withdraw my daughter from school if this is introduced.

Sadly, kimp, there are parents out there who just won't give it any thought. Your instinct is to protect your child, some parents never see the inside of their childrens' schools, much less care about the toilet aspect :((
