Like the majority here it's stay at home for me. I wouldn't travel to the city, just not safe there anymore. I'm laid up anyway with a very sore and swollen knee restricting movement and on pain killers so just soft drink instead of bubbly and early to bed before the sound of car horns beeping wake me.
I used to love to go to the city centre for the midnight fireworks but there was a viscious brawl one time and it really put me off. I would now sooner be home with my dogs. Like Finy, I might struggle to even be awake for midnight these days!
We are going out to a venue and we are going to have a four course meal whilst being entertained by a Beatles tribute band. It should be a great night !! Last year it was an ABBA tribute band. I haven't been to the City since I was a teenager. It is too far away and there are so many people there !! Those crowds are a bit scary !!! We try to go out somewhere every year, if my husband isn't working.
Not if I can help it! I went with my husband & a couple of friends, to the 1999 fireworks, but we had to be at Mrs Macquarie's Chair buy mid afternoon, & wait for the 9pm, then the midnight fireworks, which we could only see through the trees even though we were sitting overlooking the harbour. We stayed there until the crowds had left, & caught a train home at about 2am. We came home with a lovely beach towel, & big (empty) 'gold' carry bag, & an unopened packet of peanuts, so it does pay to stay on until everyone else has left! We haven't bothered going into see them since then. Since then we've just liked staying home with sparkling wine, dips & crackers & watching the 9pm & the 12am fireworks on the tv at home!
I cannot even recall the last time I went anywhere on New Year's Eve! It is just not a big deal for me, nor is making a New Year's Resolution!! I am a bit of a stick in the mud or wet blanket, or whatever else you wish to call us folk who go to bed early, and love the company of beloved Fur Babies!!! I shall be happily doing just this,I'm sure!!!
In the Meantime, fellow angels, Season's Greetings and cheerful smiles to you all!!!!
