I am almost ashamed to say no, I cannot change a fuse!
Have been living alone for some years now and there is still heaps I cannot do.
In this day and age, however, they rarely need changing (says she touching wood)
One of the earliest lessons I can recall from my dad is how to change a fuse! I was in Brownies at the time,so about 10 years of age. Way back then ,in the 60's it was a whole proper event to change a fuse as the old wire had to be removed and a new one threaded and replaced properly. These days it is just a completely different system in place and I actually have one of the latest Power Boxes available which is completely digitised!!!.I had all the electricals re-done when a major renovation was finally done last year. I hardly know myself!!
I guess I could if I tried but with a man in the house I usually leave that stuff to him. If he is away I have no problem DIYing.
No I can't. Thankfully I've never needed to
I use to be when they were 20 years ago, quite simple.
Now and after looking at the pic we have for this question! I would not touch that kind of 'power board'!
I like my life, and want to live.....
LOLed when I read this. So true, jonaj.
No. I should probably learn how to though.
I'm ashamed to say "no". My late husband did all the handyman stuff in the house, with the result when he died I was absolutely useless about stuff like that and had to rely on my son or friends to fix things for me. What an indictment on me! I should have had the commonsense to ask my husband to show me how to do simple things like that, but never did.
Yes, and do when the occasion requires.
Yes.
And a car tyre, all stuff like that was taught to me by my Father. He was SO good at just plain everything! I loved learning from him, as he was so practical.
I learnt car mechanicing from my husband, as well as doing a couple of TAFE Courses. They were excellent. At least when something goes 'wrong' with my car, I can give my mechanic an 'educated' list of things!
Wow, Donjo, what I sensible father you had, teaching you all those things, every girl/boy needs to know. You wouldn't need to call a mechanic as you are 1 already.
No....I refuse to change a fuse!
NO, but I know I should know how to do it, in case of an emergency, or if my husband isn’t around to do it for me!
Yes. I feel secure knowing I don't need to call on someone if things go wrong. I remember my sister and I as teens, changing a tyre for our friend's father once when he didn't know how to do it.
The power box pictured is one where a switch needs to be flicked, so no fuse wire required.if you have this type you just have to flick the off switch to on.it may flick off straight away, so then you have to switch off the appliance causing the overload/short.
