I am afraid of wild animals, but domesticated ones, or ones around the home, I am scared of mice, rats, spiders, snakes, and although a dog lover, am scared of a few types of dogs e.g.pitbulls, and German Shepherds, and also some staffys as I have known a few vicscious ones.

Not really, though I do admit to a healthy respect for some of the unpredictabilty of animals which do not know me.And also for the danger of wild and venomous critters which I will avoid, rather than antagonise by my presence! I do not have any problem with mice, cockroaches, spiders, etc at all!!! Live and let live unless they pose a health threat to me.
Wild animals are extremely dangerous, as their movements' are swift, & for the 'kill'.

A few years' ago, a woman walking down to a lake edge, somewhere in Africa, at dusk (dumb move!) got between a mother hippo & her baby.
Result>>>>one very quickly dead woman!

I'm VERY careful around any animal with whom I'm not familiar.

Even family pets must be watched around children, & especially, babies'.
Hear! Hear! I get so annoyed when people try to push their children at my dogs. I feel like biting them!!

I can't stand being near cockroaches and cane toads, they give me the hee bee gee bees. brrrrrrr
No, not the animal per se. I can think of situations involving an animal or animals that would be scary though, for example being charged by a herd of cows, as they can be extremely dangerous, but that doesn't mean I'm scared of cows....
You put that well, Verity -I agree!

I would be cautious of wild animals but I would not be afraid of any particular animals

I'm a bit worried around wild animals as they can be unpredicatable especially if the feel threatened. We were recently going for a stroll and came acorss a goanna sunning itself in a garden that was around my shoulder height. I was extremely nervous going past it.
A Perenti has THE most disease-ridden mouth of any goanna. Never get bitten by ANY goanna, Gayle.

I have always been scared of snakes. I am cautious about any animal I am not familiar with and would be careful not to corner it or make it feel threatened.
I used to be afraid of spiders until I realised that due to my size I am probably far more scarier to them. I tend not to be concerned about being carried off by a lion but then I also don't mix in those circles!
Am cautious around all animals until my instinct tells me they are receptive (household pets, horses etc) but wild animals yes of course I am scared of them and would keep a healthy and sensible distance...

Oh! Rice, was camping on a property, & woke up to a Huntsman, the size of a bread & butter plate, above my head, on the inside end wall of tent.
I backed out the other end, & let husband collect him, & re-home in scrub!

They don't normally worry me, as have them in house, & happy to do so to catch insects, but this one's size was something else!

Eeeek! I just went cold all over. I'd be dead. Never have quite got used to the size of spiders and grasshoppers here in Oz.
