With all the health warnings about skin cancers, do you still sun-bathe to get a tan, or do you now cover up?

Having had a melanoma and having gone all weekend to the beach when I was young, I now no longer lie in the sun.

Trouble is half of us now have a vitamin D deficiency from not enough sun -can't win sometimes.

My doctor once told me to go out in the sun for 10-15 minutes before 9 am in summer and in winter I now take vitamin D every few days.

Always cover up now at this stage of life, skin gets thin and horrible....used to be love the sand and surf but no so much now, prefer pools...under an umbrella most of the time

I don't sunbathe because I find it very boring. I always wear sunscreen in the summer because I burn really easily. It is really a benefit that I do burn easily because it means that I am more conscious of protecting my skin

I have never done it. A lot of walking from place to place gives me enough Vit D

I sunbathe to get a tan but only for a short period, I do it very rarely. I used to wear sunscreen, but I don't anymore. I'd rather cover up.

I prefer the cover up method too . . . sunscreen seems to clog the skin and make the body hotter anyway. I have always felt as if I was suffocating with sunscreen on.

I never sunbathe.
People who do sunbake are crazy, in my opinion.
Growing up I was always at the beach, those days have long gone.
It's possible to enjoy the beach and even a little bit of sunbaking, if you choose the right time of day. Although I never go to the beach in the middle of the day during summer (with Perth's scorching summers, that would be insane), I do enjoy visiting in the early mornings and late afternoons when it's still warm but the sun is low on the horizon.
I never ever lie in the sun.I don't really see the point in doing it.
I don't sunbathe specifically to get a tan. It's too much all at once for my skin and only results in a burn. Spending a little bit of time outside each day in the warmer months usually leads to a gradual tan by the end of summer, but it's not on purpose.
sunbake i jsut don't like pasty coloured skin
I get a bit of sun whilst mowing but I don't like to go out in the sun in general. It has always made me feel woozy.

I've hated sun baking for about 50 years. I don't lie on beaches...anytime. So yes, I'm covered up in my normal cloths when I leave the house.
